Spinning Tops

Materials                                                   Equipment

Skewers                                                     Drill
Bottle top                                                  Felts
Small Squared card board                         Scissors
                                                                  Pencil




Method
First drill a hole in the center of the bottle top. 
Next trace a circle around the bottle top on the cardboard.
Then decorate the circle on the cardboard with felts.
After that put a hole in the center of the circle, you can use a sharp pencil or skewer for this.
Next put the cardboard circle inside the bottle top.
Now put the skewer through the bottle top and your decorated circle.
Finally you made your spinning top, you can have a competition with your friends.

Get an adult to help drill the hole.
Don't prick your self with the skewer.

Contract Report

These are all the stages of the water cycle and it starts at evaporation and ends at accumulation then starts again.

Evaporation is the part of the cycle when the sun gets hot and the ocean gets hot and starts to evaporate.


Transpiration is another way of evaporation but in this case it comes from trees.


Condensation is when the evaporated water turns into water vapour and then cools down into a cloud.


Precipitation is when the clouds start to get heavy and it starts raining.

Accumulation is when all of the water gets cleaned and goes back to the ocean then the cycle starts all over again.

The cycle just keeps on going forever even when your sleeping but in the summer the clouds can't cool down much.

Workshop 27 prove it

L.I Can I use commas for lists.

My special robot is the best robot created.  His name is Clank.
Clank can fly, jump really high, use laser eyes, hover and shape shift. He enjoys drinking oil, saving people and shooting stuff. Clank has robot friends too and their names are Nushi, Sparks and R2-D2. Some of mine and Clank's adventures are going to another galaxy, exploring underwater temples, discovering other species and going to sky city. After we save the day he gets oil, wires and upgrades. I get money, fame and glory.

Gymnastics

When we get into the gym we take off our shoes and socks and we go onto the spring mat. We usually play stuck in the mud and do these moves, straddle, tuck and pike. After that we go into our rotations which are staying at the mat and practicing gymnastic skills, doing obstacles and practicing our motorbike landing, going on the big trampoline and doing obstacles while we're waiting and jumping into the pit. Once we've finished every rotation we get to have a drink and then we put our shoes and socks on and leave.

One day when I left to go shopping a goat escaped from the farm and it started eating my car tyre like a pig. So I had to stay at the farm and look after the animals. 5 minutes later the chickens started to peck at my face which was as hard as stone. I was planning to walk home when the pigs were having babies. They were as cute as a puppy mixed with a baby. So I decided to stay at the farm.

Contract Creative Writing

I could not believe my eyes. I was walking by the river when… (BOOM) a portal opened. Or was it? Seconds later I figured out that it was a black hole. The whole Wanganui River just flew into the black hole. People said the black hole has got loads of mountains, clouds and even the sky was grey. Professor Fink said that we needed the rain to stop the black hole. Everyone was confused but Professor Fink quickly explained that the black hole is like a bucket and if you fill up the black hole it will stop. Five minutes later people gathered all of the water they had and threw it into the straight hole from the Wanganui River. Professor Fink grew the sun with his growth machine. Five minutes later everyone could see the evaporation and a few water droplets. Once it got up into the sky it turned into one big giant cloud, it was as big as Jupiter. Once all that was done it really started raining hard, harder than normal rain. The rain filled up the black hole. The black hole puked everywhere because it was too full. It flew away never to be heard again. The whole of Wanganui had a party.

Reflection Term 2 Week 10

What: Last week my group tried to make videos of Te Reo greetings, feelings and farewells but my group still has to practice. Also from last week my group for technology made macaroni and cheese it was so delicious. On Friday we went to W.H.S's production of Snow White and the Seven Dudes. It was really funny because there was a pillow fight in it.  

So What: Last week I learnt how to find the perimeter of a shape.  You have to measure the count the outside of the shape.

Now What: Last week my goal was to get a gold sticker in handwriting. I did not achieve this goal because I did not get one.

Mysterious Water Experiment

Materials: 
Mug, Big bowl, Glad wrap, Water and a string or rubber band.

Steps:
1. First put water in the bowl so it is halfway. 
2. Put a mug in the bowl full of water. 
3. Put glad wrap over so nothing can escape. 
4. Put a string/rubber band around the glad wrap so you can make sure nothing can escape. 
5. Put it by the window so the sun is shining on it.

After that:
Wait and observe it to see if it changes.

My prediction:
I think that the water will kind of evaporate and make the cup fog up.

My prediction wasn't correct.

The results:
The sun heated the water and it evaporated up towards the glad wrap. Condensation formed on the glad wrap. When the water vapour became heavy it dropped into the cup, like rain. (precipitation).

Reflection week 9

What: Last week we made a water cycle in Google drive. The main parts are evaporation, condensation, precipitation, transportation and accumulation. We also finished off our building art where we had to put patterns onto the structure. For technology my group made a potato bug for our Maori bread.

So What: I learnt that 80% of our evaporated water comes from the ocean.

Now What: Last week my goal was to get a gold sticker in handwriting. I did not achieve this goal so I am still working on it.

Prove it workshop 22

The crazy science show

Yesterday a man came to our school to teach us crazy cool science. First he made everyone laugh by doing something but I couldn't see, so I had no idea what we were laughing at. Next he made water disappear by putting a nappy in a bag and he tipped the water in and the stuff in the nappy made the water disappear. Then, he made huge bubbles and everyone was really impressed. Last to finish it off, he hypnotised us and afterwards his head was huge (I didn't see it).

For my word activity I had to choose a normal adjective and then choose 5 better adjectives and put them underneath. My normal adjective is small and my better ones are underneath it.

Reflection Week 7

What: Last week my class did a Toondoo about Maori farewells. The farewells that I used were Ka kite, Ka kite ano, Hei konei ra, Haere ra and Enoho ra. For technology we did our final rotation and mine was cooking. We learnt about the food pyramid and the three groups of food that go in each section of the pyramid. For inquiry me and Corbin worked together to figure out some positive, negative and interesting stuff about the Whanganui River

So What: Last week I learnt that the Maoris fought over the Whanganui river but we never knew why?

Now What: Last week my goal was to get a gold star in handwriting. I did not achieve this goal so I am going to keep trying to get better in handwriting.

Needling an Elephant

This week my reading group has been reading a book about Needling an Elephant. Here is some
information I have learnt from it.

The way acupuncture works is when the needle goes in and touches your bone where the illness is. The only thing is that you have to put it in the right spot or else it wont work. So this is exactly what they had to do to the elephant. They had to do this to the elephant because of his left front leg and he wouldn't sit properly.

Straw house

In our class we were put in teams to try and build a house.We had to use straws and blue tac. In my team we cut the bendy part of the straw off so then it wouldn't bend. We then made the corners of it and the sides. But what we didn't know that it wasn't that stable, so it collapsed. We needed to have a better foundation.

Reflection Term 2 Week 4

What: Last week we did Haiku poems and we did them about the thunder. For Haiku poems there are 3 lines and the first and last line need to have 5 syllables and the middle one needs to have 7 syllables. We also discussed as a class all the important  and not important things that help keep a structure structurally sound. We also had some visitors from Wanganui City College. They came to talk to us about their school, how they run it and their rules.  

So What: Last week I learnt that a window sill helps keep a structure structurally sound.

Now What: Last week my goal was to get a gold star in handwriting. I think I have not achieved this goal because I got silver stickers instead.

What: Last week we started a new art which was abstract buildings. We drew wobbly buildings. We also did some practising of our dribbling so we could be better at playing basketball. We also did an activity where we had to get some questions and see if there thick or thin questions.

Reflection T2 Week 2

What: Last week we created some art to do with ANZAC. So we did poppies and we put buttons in the middle. We also did a Prezi about a certain structure from around the world and mine was the Sydney Opera House. We also did technology but it had to do with with ANZAC. So my group made ANZAC biscuits.

So What: Last week I learnt that the Sydney Opera House is 58 years old.

Now What: My goal for this week is to try and get a gold star in handwriting.
